Putting smiles on the faces of youth in need

Save our youth

The Save Our Youth mentoring organization was very instrumental in the formation of The Master’s Apprentice program in 2013 and remains an important part of it today.

In 1994 The Master’s Apprentice current executive director, Luis Villarreal, began Save Our Youth, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, which has supported under resourced youth from ages 10 to 17 years old by connecting these young people to hope through long-term mentoring relationships. These matches continue to change both the mentor and mentees lives for the better. Their expert and dedicated staff provides a variety of trainings, programs and activities for both the mentor and mentee to help lead each match to a successful mentoring relationship.

An average of over 300 youth in the Denver Metro and Douglas County/Parker are supported by Save Our Youth’s mentoring program each year. In 2021 Save Our Youth began preparations to expand services to Colorado Springs, helping introduce a positive influence in the lives of at-risk boys and girls during their formative years.

Today, Save Our Youth’s employees and volunteers administer their very successful and practical mentoring model they developed. This model has led to Save Our Youth leading the industry with a record longevity track of 3.5 years versus the industry average of 1.3 years.

Since retiring the founder of Save Our Youth, Luis Villarreal, began his Executive Director leadership at The Master’s Apprentice, bringing in his expertise in clinical social work, spiritual leadership, technical knowledge, and more. We are fortunate to have his leadership here, as our two organization continue to support one another.
