Thom is a Colorado native who graduated from Wheat Ridge High School.  After receiving an accounting degree from Calvin College in Grand Rapids, Michigan, he worked in Michigan in public accounting before returning to Colorado.  He worked in the telecommunications industry for more than 25 years, working at Jones Intercable and Charter Communications in a number of operations and finance roles.

He is married to Amy and they have two children, Isabel a senior and Ethan a freshman, at Cherry Creek High School.

Thom grew up in the Christian Reformed Church but has been active in the Presbyterian Church over the last twenty years.  Currently he is a member of Covenant Presbyterian DTC.

He enjoys skiing, hiking, playing golf and tennis, and spending time with his family.

He has been a Coach with the Masters Apprentice since the fall of 2017, leading a class in Financial Literacy.  This coaching opportunity has allowed him to share his passion for teaching young people key financial principles that will benefit them throughout their lives.
