Want to make a difference in someone’s life?

There are lots of ways to make a difference in someone’s life, and in yours as well, by signing up as a volunteer for The Master’s Apprentice. The details are below:

Classroom Coach

We need a minimum commitment of 2 hours per day, 2 days per week for a 6 week course. Each day is divided into 3 sessions, 8:30am-10:00 am, 10:15am-11:45 am, (lunch is 11:45-12:30 pm), followed by a workshop from 12:30-2:30 pm. Each class occurs twice per week (the workshop runs each day), and all curriculum is written with planned lessons. All tools and needed materials are also provided.

Classroom coaches serve in a classroom environment with approximately 15 students and will teach one subject for the semester. Typically coaches work in pairs

Workshop Coach

Workshop coaches serve our students in our fully equipped professional woodshop and assist the program manager on general safety procedures, measuring, cutting and simple assembly of merit badge type projects. The coaches do not need to be experienced craftsman, but should have basic workshop skills.

Career Coach

The purpose of a career coach is to present a variety of career options in the construction industry to our students and serve as an adviser to them. A career coach may come from any trades related vocation, i.e. electrician, plumber, carpenter, engineering, etc. The career coach would then serve as an adviser to apprentices when questions arise about their area of expertise.

Speaker

A speaker will inspire confidence in our students by talking about their life and work experience while sharing their testimony about what it means to be a person of faith.

Expectations of our Volunteers

Our volunteers are expected to be dedicated and dependable in meeting committed schedules  and serve as a role model to our students in following the shop rules on the job etiquette in order to help our students be prepared to earn a great career in construction.  We also want our volunteers to be as passionate as our team is about this opportunity to have such a profound effect in changing young peoples lives for the better.

Volunteers must be open to sharing their lives, career experiences and testimony in offering wisdom to our young adult students, (many who don’t have a positive mother or father figure influence in their lives).
